It’s crazy how a car can be so much more than a car for a lot of us. It can provide the ultimate freedom and ability to go wherever we want at a moment’s notice with no need to pre-arrange or pre-plan travel. It can be the perfect antidote to everyday hardships, serving as a form of therapy to calm, relax and refocus the mind.
We shouldn’t take the current freedoms we have with our cars for granted, either. We’re facing a future of uncertainty for the I.C.E. with increasingly stringent legislation constantly coming down the pipeline along with the advent of autonomous systems all of which might make our roads safer but at the expense of our freedoms.
Our community is a small and currently a fragmented one, too. Divisions have been needlessly created because different people like to do different things with different cars, which some can’t abide by and would rather everyone does exactly as they would do.
Regardless of what automotive sub-culture you consider yourself a part of (if one at all), remember that you’re a car person first and foremost.
Don’t worry about what other people are doing with their cars, just focus on your own and remember to drive at every chance you get. Less bullshit, more driving.
What we’re free to do today, might be nothing more than a fond memory in years to come.
