Gigi is such a friendly little girl. She waves and smiles at everyone until she gets their attention. Animals, books, speed crawling, climbing, & furniture-walking are her favorite pastimes at the moment. This girl is full of happiness & spunk! 💜

Can we all agree that vacations are quite different with a baby? Mommy is going on day 4 with insomnia, we’ve barely seen the sun because of nap-times, and Nima and I want to kill each other at least once a day. Sound about right parents? 🤣

Sooooo, yesterday was a pretty high high for me but I want to remind everyone that for every win there are million and one losses that no one sees. Seriously a million!

I’ve been rejected, ignored, and experience self doubt at least once...hmmm maybe 100 times per day!

I’ve wanted to quit more times than I can count because it’s HARD and I feel like I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. 😱 Even on days when I’m riding the roll coaster of “Ooooooh yeah I’ve got this figured out now!” SMACK! Just kidding! Kinda like parenthood right?! 😂

Let’s not forget, I left a pretty cushy 13 year career as a hairstylist to peruse this passion and it was scary as shit to start something completely new.

I found “my people,” educated myself, took advantage of any resources I could and STILL AM. I meditated, made vision boards, & kept my goals in the forefront of my mind....even if they sounded ridiculous.

4 years later at age 38 plus the addition of one cute baby, things are finally starting to happen. ✨

The IIFYM myth 👇🏼

So last week in my stories I talked about how and why I fit foods like these delicious straight outta the box waffles into my nutrition plan. Let’s talk more about what IIFYM is and isn’t shall we? ⤵️
- “If it fits your macros” gets such a bad wrap! Sometimes people use IIFYM incorrectly as an excuse to pack in whatever junk food they want because "it fits” into their daily allotted macros. 🙅🏻‍♀️
In order to do this, however, they are omitting nutrients. I’ve also seen some pretty outrageous concoctions here on The Gram claiming “you can eat whatever you want so long as it fits your macros.” 🙄

Often times when people start tracking macros they tend to overlook two major components of their overall diet. ⤵️
Fiber + Micronutrients 🍏🍊🍌🍠🥦🥗🍚

Micronutrients (vitamins & minerals) are crucial in maintaining energy levels, metabolism, cellular function, overall health, and aid in fighting disease. By eating a diet that consists of mostly nutrient dense foods you are automatically setting yourself up to choose foods with higher fiber and great micronutrient content.
Choosing nutrient dense, whole foods is top priority but that doesn’t mean you can’t squeeze in some fun foods in here and there. Hence....the waffles. 🤤

To be clear. This is not an everyday occurrence for me. I chose to eat nutrient foods the majority of the time because I don’t want to be inflamed and feeling like shit from processed food. BUT I get cravings just like everyone else and if I want to have a damn waffle here and there I work my day to make it “fit” my macros. -
This is how IIFYM is intended to be used. It is not excuse to eat like a asshole all day. 😂 I know it’s tempting but it’s a big REGERT!
