Photo by @daisygilardini | Magellanic penguins from South America are closely related to the African, the Humboldt and the Galapagos penguins. The all four species are in fact known as banded penguins and also jackass penguins. This funny name come from the fact that all of them make a sound similar to a donkey’s call.

Video 🎥 by @alexbraczkowski and @luke_ochse
Leon, a young 3 year-old lion peers out from the branches of an African caper bush. With few large trees available in their territory, lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda will look for shade anywhere they can, including bushes with spiny branches or even thick euphorbia (cactus-like) trees. With temperatures regularly exceeding 95 degrees in this equatorial savanna, anyone can feel for the lions 🦁 follow @alexbraczkowski for more shots and facts about big cats around the world 🌍 🐆

Photos by @CristinaMittermeier // When I was diving in the Galapagos, surrounded by a healthy ecosystem full of sharks, sea turtles and fish, I couldn’t help but feel disheartened by the fact that we humans kill more than 11,000 sharks every single hour. As awful as that number is, the good news is that if we act together, we have the power to #protectsharks. Learn how you can get involved and take action for sharks today by following @CristinaMittermeier and @SeaLegacy. #worthmorealive #sharks #oceanlover

Video @filipe_deandrade // Sea Turtle nesting season is picking up in Costa Rica. On around 10 beaches world wide, Sea Turtles come together by the tens of thousands in a synchronized nesting event known as the "Arribada." Costa Rica is home to two of those beaches. The world is a better place with Sea Turtles in our oceans. You can help them by cutting down on single use plastics and not using white lights on nesting beaches. Spread the word wildlife warriors. Follow @filipe_deandrade for more wildlife adventures.

@sandesh_kadur & @robin_darius capture an intimate shot of the widest ranging canid in the world - the Red Fox 🦊. This incredible animal is also one of the most widely distributed Carnivore in the world. It’s also the largest amongst the True foxes and its adaptability has earned it a slot in the “worlds 100 most invasive species “ list after it was introduced and adapted well in Australia. .
This video show while on assignment for @natgeowild shows the interdependence of this canine with the apex feline of the Western Himalaya - the Snow Leopard

Photo @jasonedwardsng It is a mistake to underestimate the power and speed of Elephants. Given their size this may sound obvious, however nearly everyone I know who has worked with these amazing animals will have a wide-eyed story to tell around a campfire. I have several myself, that often end in “I didn’t see that coming!” .

This individual was submerged in deep water with only the crown of its head visible and the tip of the trunk for breathing, this is known as snorkeling. Without warning the elephant erupted from the water flying into the air, bugling and swinging its enormous trunk like a club. It was over in seconds but the scene of ivory and flesh exploding from the calm surface in such close proximity is one I will always remember. .

Please join me @jasonedwardsng for images and stories from my National Geographic assignments. .

Photo by @daisygilardini | King penguins commute every morning from the colony to the beach, like diligent workers commuting to work in the big cities. They then jump into the sea to fish for the day.
I was fortunate to spend a full week in the Falkland Islands in late October, following them. Rain or shine, I was there — at the beach — witnessing the parade and trying to capture the elegance of these gentle creatures in the morning light.

Photo by @russ_wildlife || These wild dog pups growing up fast out at @erindinamibia, the joys these little guys bring to me, their sense of adventure from watching them stumbling around the den as tiny little pups to running with the adults has been a remarkable experience and one I will never forget.

Video by Ronan Donovan @ronan_donovan // 🔊 sound on 🔊What does a young wolf do when he and his sister are separated from their pack? They howl, and howl, and repeat until they get a reply. I named this yearling male wolf Gray Mane and his sister Slender Foot (naming wild animals isn’t something I’m normally excited about, but in my years as a researcher and photographer the animals are always named - either with a number or a world. In this case, I chose physically descriptive names). Gray Mane and his sister had stayed behind at a carcass for the day while the rest of the pack had moved on. It is clear that he’s a bit anxious in wanting to rejoin the family (his gasp-howl is one of my favorites). For an hour he and his sister howled like this until they heard a response to the southwest. They ran the 4 miles straight to the pack for the joyous reunion. The pack was whole and they began to hunt muskoxen for the next 8 hours.
I filmed this clip on Canada’s most northern landmass called Ellesmere Island as part of the upcoming 3 hour series about Arctic wolves airing on NatGeo WILD @natgeowild at 8PM EST on Sunday called Kingdom of the White Wolf.
