Happy Monday everyone!!!
Ana and Jason here, we are super excited because we have a project brewing and we want to share it with you!
Jason is a Yoga therapist as well as a yoga instructor, and, as a cool fact, a lifeguard. He teaches yoga walls in our studio every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
Ana is our owner, you’ve probably met her already, she’s a yoga and fitness instructor, and she teaches classes throughout the week.
We have joined forces to bring you a Yoga and Wellness Retreat next year!!! March 29-April 4, 2020 in Puerto Vallarta!!
We will be leading this 7 day retreat in the most beautiful private villas with a pool, vegan meals, excursions and of course, vigorous and restorative yoga practices daily!!
We will have all the specific details for you soon, like sign up information, location details and more, so stay tuned and start planning your wellness vacation for next spring, you won’t want to miss this experience!!!

Urdhva Dhanurasana (OORD-vah don-your-AHS-anna), also known as the Full Wheel or Upward Bow Pose, is an expansive, energising posture - stretching and toning everything from your chest through your core musculature and spine. During each exercise, make sure to maintain a focus on your breathing.
SANSKRIT:
* Urdhva: upward
* Dhanu: bow
* Asana: pose

TIPS:
This pose stretches the chest and core musculature, and props may be used to help with the following: * To keep feet parallel – If your proportions match the width of a block, you can place a block the long way between the inner soles of your feet, pressing the edge of the big toe as well as the edge of the inner heel into the block to keep awareness to parallel feet. Be sure that the block is wide enough to keep you at least hip width distance with the feet.
* To keep elbows parallel – Make a loop in strap that is as wide as shoulder tip to shoulder tip. Place the strap around both of your arms, above the elbow (in the direction of the shoulder). Enter into the pose using the strap as guidance to keep elbows parallel. You may also press out into the strap to get extra lift.
* To draw inner thighs towards one another – Place a block between your upper inner thighs (narrow width) and transition through the pose without releasing the block.
* To aid in opening the chest and shoulders – At the wall, place two blocks shoulder width apart with the narrow side in contact with the wall. Set up for the pose, placing your hands onto the blocks so that the fingers are draping over the edge with the palm and balls of the hand firmly on the block. This will give you extra height that may be missing if you are tighter through the shoulders and chest. I don’t NEED this prop, I CHOSE it ⚡️ I used to meet so many students who were ‘anti prop’ or saw props as a a signal they were ‘lesser than’, but this feels like it’s changing.

Ana and Jason here, we are super excited because we have a project brewing and we want to share it with you!
Jason is a Yoga therapist as well as a yoga instructor, and, as a cool fact, a lifeguard. He teaches yoga walls in our studio every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
Ana is our owner, you’ve probably met her already, she’s a yoga and fitness instructor, and she teaches classes throughout the week.
We have joined forces to bring you a Yoga and Wellness Retreat next year!!! March 29-April 4, 2020 in Puerto Vallarta!!
We will be leading this 7 day retreat in the most beautiful private villas with a pool, vegan meals, excursions and of course, vigorous and restorative yoga practices daily!!

Slow sequencing allows you to take your time to get into and out of postures and is followed up with yin and/or restorative postures to lubricate and strengthen the connective tissues and joints. Every class finishes with relaxation and meditation wrapped in blankets to allow you completely let go after all the hard work.

Holding an asana can help release the connective tissue which is weblike filament around all the muscles and organs.  It is healing for the tendons and ligaments connecting muscles and bones. Depending on our body’s movement patterns, some if our tissues can build like scaffolding around certain areas of body.  Common places for this are shoulders, hips, and side of body.  Spending time and breathing in stillness brings awareness to areas we might not always notice.  We will be doing self acupressure in this class.  See you there🧿

Take a few moments today to become aware of your breathing 🌀
Our breathe is so important and so helpful for our physical body and our mental well being.
We can use breathing techniques (pranayama) to change our mental and emotional state.
We can slow the heart rate and brain waves by using our breathe and reduce our anxiety and stress levels. It calms us down and stops the negative, panicking thoughts.
Most of us don’t inhale even half as deeply as we should a lot of the time.
