Here is the album that I think really influenced me to do what I love. Porter Robinson is an absolute legend and I personally think that his sound has influenced me more than any other and that all began with a little album called 'Worlds' from 2014.
I had heard of Porter earlier with his track "Unison" that was remixed by Knife Party but I was there believing he was just another boring EDM artist. 'Worlds' proved me wrong in just about everyway. From the way I view music theory to the use of synth presets and all things in between, this album really showed me just how useful each element can be when used in the right context.
My favourite track is definitely the song "Years of War" featuring the vocal talents of Breanne Duren and Sean Caskey. It has such a pretty melody above a really great chord progression filled with clipping tom fills, loud kicks and a really thick snare. I really enjoy the fact that the second verse is shorter than the first and that the final chorus has the very subtle shaker/tamborine that adds that tiny bit of oomph that's necessary to finish off such an epic piece.
So yes...I really like this album. Like, like like it and I may even take it on a date and see if our relationship blossoms into something beautiful. Anyways, I love it and I think you all will too if you enjoy my stuff! - 4 hours ago
