HIIT workouts are one of my favourite ways to train. They are short, sweet and to the point whilst challenging yourself to push through 10-20 minutes of intense overload. While they are certainly not for the faint of heart, they definitely can be part of a great training program as they not only develop the anaerobic system, but also have aerobic benefits as well⠀

They burn a ton of calories, preserve muscle mass, and can be done anywhere anytime. Generally, I like a work:rest ratio of either 1:1 or 1:0.5 (really extreme, but gets the job done). What ratio someone uses strongly depends on their time, goals, and fitness level. I highly suggest a ratio of 1:2 or more for beginners to allow for ample rest and play with the ratios as they see fit to their fitness level and progress⠀

You can change your life in 6 months. I have 🥳 stop telling yourself you’re going to start tomorrow and start your healthy lifestyle RIGHT NOW. Start with your nutrition. Make sure you’re eating at a caloric deficit (eating less!) find healthy foods you actually like as opposed to eating things you think you should eat (salads 😴) Same thing with working out! Find what you actually like to do and think outside the box. (Sports, swimming, stair stepper, HIIT, Group classes, LISS, lifting) anything that gets you excited because it’s the only way you’ll stay consistent. Make yourself a workout routine and work hard on forming those healthy habits so you can rely on them when motivation doesn’t show up to the party. And most importantly!!! Change the word DIET to HEALTHY LIFESTYLE 💛💛💛 Dont just lose weight in time for your wedding or a special trip. Create healthy habits you can implement into the rest of your life. With a diet you restrict yourself. With a healthy lifestyle you let yourself indulge and you DONT feel guilty about it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 .

Bunion post #2. 🦶🏻A mild bunion can be corrected through correctives. As part of our correctives programming, we splint the big toe to put the hallux in a more neutral position so we are then able to effectively work on our foot intrinsics activation, glute strengthening, etc.
•
Splinting or kinesiology taping helps facilitate and 'prime' you for movement. It is NOT a cure but it helps relieve the pressure off the foot and re-establish normal motion patterns.

-Lateral Raises - squeeze those DB’s for dear life! And ALWAYS try to keep your elbows up, note that I’m not letting my elbows sink when it gets tough.
-DB Press (OH) Palms Facing - by far the least comfortable for me but the more you do it that easier it gets. Stabilize your core, breathe out going up and in on the eccentric.
-Face Pulls 😈 - my FUCKING FAV! Keep your elbows high or at shoulder height, pulling in a straight line w/ your rear delts. Takes a minute to get mind muscle connection but SO WORTH IT.

3 Simple Tips for fitness success

1. Exercise daily for at least 45 mins. You should not have to kill yourself with intense workouts but should have some sort of moderate physical activity in your daily life. For example you can go for a light jog then set certain intervals with sprints. Be sure to stay hydrated, stretch and warmup before starting

2. Be sure to get enough sleep. Aim to have at least 6-8 hours of rested sleep. If you have a job like I do but like to get in a session before work then you’ll need to plan accordingly to ensure to still get enough hours of sleep the night before. 😴

3. Staying motivated is an important key to better fitness and wellbeing. You have to set goals and keep a positive mind set to be able to push through the hard times to achieve your fitness goal 💯

Slide 2: Inchworm pushup to hop- 6x3 
Slide 3: Bench Hop Overs- 20x3 total

Slide 4: Bench Vups with dumbbell- 10x3 *TIP* Start out using a lighter weight or no weight and work your way up.

🤰🏼I get a lot of clients asking about pregnancy and safe ways to incorporate exercise so I thought I would share some of my favourite pilates exercises that are suitable for all trimesters 💞
• Pelvic tilts:
Strengthens your lower back and pelvis.
Lie on your back with the head and shoulders elevated on a pillow, and knees bent. Breathe in gently.
While breathing out, press your lower back down using the abdominal muscles. Your pelvis tilts, and tailbone rises gently when you do this.
Hold for about five to ten seconds.
Repeat five to ten times. ✨

My take on glute activation🍑
. 
Personally I like to keep it simple and effective. So I pick out 3-5 exersices or variations of exercises I will include in my workout and I do 12-15 reps of each with light weight and form as close to perfect as I possibly can.
. 
I don't use and resistance bands, I don't have anything against them but they are absolutely NOT necessary if the purpose is simply to activate and "fire up" the glutes.
. 
I like to think of resistance bands/booty bands as a tool to either 1.make the exercise heavier and more advance, 2. as a variation or substitute for an exercise. 3. for a beginner to understand the mind-muscle connection, with the goal to be able to find that muscle connection without the bands. There is a difference between utilizing a tool and depending on a piece of equipment.

Don't use it because you see all your favourite influencers with a band around their knees and ankles. Just like with any exercise or equipment there needs to be a purpose and intention behind why you actually use it.
. 
And if you are not able to find a mind-muscle connection without bands, in my opinion you should definitely go back to the basics. Hire a trainer or even take a video of yourself and go over your form and make the ajustments needed.

🔥HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING🔥
HIIT is a form of cardio in which you do intense exercises with intervals of short rest periods.

This form of training burns more calories in a shorter period of time. This is because you are exerting more energy.

It is less time consuming than jogging on a treadmill for an hour. You can burn the same amount of calories in a 30 min HIIT workout than you do in an hour of light jogging on a treadmill. 
This is also because in HIIT workouts you are not only doing cardiovascular work but also muscular work. Since muscular work is being used as well this means you will continue to burn calories even after your workout.

Besides i find HIIT to be more fun than the treadmill 🙌

With this circuit i did 4 rounds of all 5 exercises. Rested only 10 to 15 seconds in between each workout and 30 seconds in between each round.

What’s a Leg Day WITHOUT weights?!! 😯 You’re looking at it! 🍑

Are you looking for lean or overall smaller legs?! PUT down the weights! ❌ In my defense, I’m aware that weights can help you tone up yours legs and turn fat into muscle. But for ME, I never achieved the overall “lean leg” I was looking for. 
I’ve trained with weights for the first 2️⃣ years of my fitness journey and man did I ❤️ my body! I was obsessed with my glute gains and people asking me if I ran track lol.

But I never had the legs I truly desired. They were definitely small but very muscular. It wasn’t until I finally dropped the HEAVY Squats and LEG extensions that I obtained the legs I desired. HOW TO MAKE PROATS!
if you watch my stories you know i’ve eaten this everyday for a week straight 🤠
this is so yummy, so filling, and so good for ya!

◾️first thing i do is use quaker simple and wholesome oats. when looking for oats, look at the label! you don’t want extra ish added to it (sugar, loads of salt, no protein, etc.) i don’t measure my foods but i use about 1/4, or 1/2 cups of the oats.
◾️add more water than you think! when you stir it in you want more water than oats so when you add your toppings it will be smooth and not chunky and grainy 🥴
◾️put in the microwave, heat HIGH for 2 minutes. stir it first to see if you like the consistency if not put in more water or put it back in the microwave to heat more.
◾️add 1/2 scoop of @pescience cake pop protein and stir that yummy ish innnn!! depending on how watery or dry my oats turn out i add about 1 tbsp or sometimes 2 of almond milk to help it be more smooth. .
◾️i then add my fruit, whichever one is your fav! i add 1 tbsp of vanilla almond butter on-top and there you go!
❕sometimes i add almond milk reddi whip if i have a bigger sweet tooth ontop, but just a tinnnyyy bit. 
MACROS: 10.4 g of fat, 55.5 g of carbs, 24.5 g of protein; 390 CALS!
MICROS: 8.7 g of fiber, 8g of sugar, 190g of sodium. *these are just averages*

Eating at a caloric deficit with some combined cardio help you lose weight. (Check out all my HIIT workouts 😉) When you start losing weight in general your genetics will decide where your fat comes off first. Be prepared that your stomach might be the last place it will come off. But BE 👏🏼 PATIENT 👏🏼 because if you’re eating less calories the weight will come off eventually 😘These exercises help you TONE and build your abs muscles 👌🏻

I made a New Year Resolution to change my lifestyle, permanently.  As of today - 160 days gone. 38 pounds down. 31 inches down. 13% body fat down. Lifestyle adopted. 
The #nsv was energy up. Sugar cravings gone. Emotional eating under control.

How did I do it? I researched nutrition and exercise programs. I found one I wanted to "try". The "try" became feeling better, which became results, which became a commitment on my part.

I loved it so much, I went through training to become certified in the nutrition material.  I also started coaching others - to help others who struggle with years of poor choices and going from diet to diet to diet.

A protein shake is a good option as a meal or snack after your workout. People who exercise regularly need more protein to support muscle recovery and growth. My favorite is my vegan vanilla shake, it is loaded with prebiotics, probiotics and adaptogens. Leg Day w/ HIIT? 🤔Leg Day at the gym? 🤷‍♀️ Sweaty Leg Day? 🙃Wasn’t quite sure what to call this workout but it definitely is a leg day for weight loss 👌🏻 This workout is what my leg days have been looking like lately at the gym. 2️⃣ Squat pulses into a squat jump - 20X3
4️⃣ Hip Thrusts on the leg extension machine- 20X3 
5️⃣ Side squat walks on the treadmill - 30 secs, rest then 3 more times 
6️⃣ Barbell Squat pulses on a step - 15X3
7️⃣ Step Jumps - 15X3
8️⃣ Kick backs into lunges on the treadmill - BURNOUT. Keep going until failure 😏
