Late night post.... when puppy wants you to go to bed but I'm not quite ready to sleep...wonder who's the boss 🐕
This fab sideboard makeover made its way home last week. It really was going home as it originally belonged to a family member of my customer and is now back in their fabulous renovated home. It's great to be able to repurpose pieces like this for a new generation.
I'm so pleased with how this turned out, it really is a transformation when you look at the before pic ️ . A feature piece of furniture in many Irish homes, I'm thinking from around the 80s, maybe into the 90s, was the Rossmore display cabinet. Solid quality furniture, built to last, but on the dark side which is not so popular, and perhaps dominating wall space a bit too much for contemporary decor.
So when I was asked if I could do anything with the bottom part (we haven't worked out if there's options for the top), I suggested adding legs to create a bit of height and make it into a sideboard. It did take a bit of research & head scratching to work out what style of legs would suit....and how to fit them! Fortunately once I got them, Mr LTL was able to fit them no bother 🙂.
The painting style was based on some American pieces, the main colour is @vintro_paint chalkpaint in Pebble, with the drawers in @fusionmineralpaintuk Champlain to contrast. Both drawers and doors have been glazed in the contrasting colours using Fusion clear glaze. The existing hardware cleaned up a treat, they had been quite dark but a good clean with Brasso done the trick
Hope you like this transformation, a few other commissions to post later, but I'll sign off for now...it's actually a new day #handpaintedbymarian
