Oh how I love Palermo. My fiance and myself spent 4 days eating our hearts out in this vibrant city and truly, a gastronomic haven. Sicily, a region with a rich history and melting pot of culture, due to empires that have invaded this island.
Walking around Palermo at night, it was hard to imagine how 2 decades ago, this city would've been too dangerous to be at, in fear of being caught in between the mafia battlefield. Thanks to the people that have been fighting organized crimes and those that are commited to regenerate Palermo, we had a chance to enjoy a part of Sicily even for a few days.
Also, this gives me hope, that in this lifetime, we will be able to see and visit, what are now war torn cities. This gives me hope that someday, peace will come to them and rise up from crisis, as the people of Palermo have done. - 5 hours ago
