Exactly 1 year ago, I had pretty intensive surgery. I had to get my ACL and MCL repaired, my knee drained of fluid and kneecap shaved down, also had to have the meniscus tissue on both sides replaced with fillers because I no longer had any cushion there and it was bone on bone. These were injuries that I got during my years of active duty and were never treated properly until after I got out of service. The road to recovery was long and seriously sucked, a lot of pain, swelling and sleepless nights, not to mention all the pain killers and medications.
Physical therapy was really rough and definitely tested my limits but I pushed through it. I returned to the gym a lot sooner than I should’ve (2months to be exact) and against my doctors orders, even my friends at the gym yelled at me for being in there with a brace and crutches, but my stubborn ass wouldn’t give in, and I forced myself to get better and stronger as everyday passed.
Here I am a year later able to squat 335lbs+ and do full leg workouts. Although my knee will never be 100% and I might never be able to fully squat ass to grass, I’m back to living my life, back to being active, I can run, hike and swim so I’m grateful for that alone. 🏾 #kneesurgery #recovery #life #acltear #gym #fitness #life #workouts #fitness #igfit #fitlife #beastmode #dedication #motivation #roadtorecovery #military #toughguy #ig #gains - 9 hours ago
