Successful people get good at doing the boring things. I heard this statement many years ago and today after close to 15 years of being in business, building teams in the 10’s of thousands on multiple continents, earning multiple seven figures in the Network Marketing profession and having leaders apart of our team that have earned high six figure incomes, I’m here to report, this statement is still the truth.
Early on in my career I was like so many of you, always looking for the short cut, the easier way out, the secret sauce, that one nugget, that automated system and of course that “coveted mentor” that would come save me from having to pay the full price required for the success I desired to achieve.
Let me save you some time, here’s the truth: The grind is still the grind. It doesn’t matter if you are in a product or service based company, it doesn’t matter if your mentor drives a Rolls Royce, Bentley, Maserati, or travels on a private jet to events.
It does not matter if you want to build online, offline, on the line, next to the line or around the freaking line. You still have to pay the full price and master the skills of prospecting, presenting, following up, closing etc.
It takes time, sacrifice, crying closet moments, betrayals, setbacks, false starts, obsession and in most cases 2-5 years or a minimum of 10,000 hours to become a true leader.
I and a few other courageous dreamers have been willing to pay this price upfront and in full and guess what? I’m still paying it today. You have to decide that you are willing to pay the price or you will become like many in our profession: a casualty of confusion.
