Romeo + Juliet broke numerous records at RPP and our final performance was completely sold out. I played Mercutio which was an absolute joy to play. But the only people he interacted with is mainly Romeo, Benvolio and Tybalt. So i wanted to make some shoutouts!
Gunnar - I was so impressed by his professionalism and his dedication. He is ambitious and strives to be better every-single-day. He is one of the most genuine guys I know. I would change Mercutio’s blocking every night, and he would always adapt to everything I did. And he had to put up with A LOT from me onstage LOL. He broke my heart every night when he would say “I thought it all for the best.” It was such an honest and natural line, he delivered it perfectly. I had the privilege to meet his family and some of his friends who were awesome. He’s like the younger brother I never had. Words cant express how much I love this kid!
Jeff - Compared to Romeo and Mercutio, Benvolio is laid back, the peacemaker, and Jeff fit into that mold perfectly! Jeff has the ability to match the other performer onstage. Sure, let’s do a drunk sequence - he can match you. Sure, let’s do a sarcastic scene - he can match you. Almost everything you throw at him, he is able to take it and run with it AND he does it BETTER, because he adds his own spin to it. He perfectly evened out all the scenes he was in. Benvolio was the voice of reason and he brought such an honest portrayal to the stage. Jeff was one of the last people casted in the show, and we were SO GRATEFUL to have him join the cast.
Max - We have a long history, as this is our 4th show together. But never before have we played mortal enemies. This time we only really shared one scene together, but it was an intense one. Neither one of us were afraid to get into each others faces. We just jumped right into it. Together, we really hit our mark as Lucious and Luigi in Explorers Club. Where else could we go next but play scorned enemies. He also had to deal with a lot of my shenanigans! BOI! BOY! BOYYYYYYY!!!!
