Dog Training with Chiquita. “Small dogs get a way with a lot of ‘stuff’. I didn’t want to be that person who couldn’t control their dog because they didn’t have a plan.” Chiquita’s mom had the goal of enjoyable and peaceful walks together. Before our training, she reported that Chiquita would snarl, lunge, and attempt to pull her mom across the street to attack other dogs on their walks. She was frustrated with Chiquita’s frequent pulling and not listening on their walks.
During our training, we explained, demonstrated, and coached Chiquita’s mom on how to be a strong leader, improve communication with her dog, and what to do when they see other dogs. On a recent training walk together, we encountered another dog. Chiquita barked twice and then turned to look to her mom for guidance. Seconds later, she was calm, following directions, and continued walking as if nothing had happened.
Chiquita’s mom said that two weeks ago this ability to return to calm behavior would have been unheard of.
We are happy to see Chiquita and mom work their plan. Mom means the world to Chiquita and they now have a stronger, more positive relationship and can relax and enjoy their walks together as a team.
Way to go guys!
