DIY 6 step simple yarn tassel:
These tassels are so simple and fun to make! To get started you’re going to need yarn of your choice. For these tassels I’ve chosen a colour for the hanging string and a separate colour for the tassel itself. You can use the same yarn everything, depending on the look you’re going for. You’re also going to need something to wrap your yarn around. Here I’m using an old wallet. Depending on the size of tassel you want you can use a hard cover book, a Tupperware lid or even a strong piece of cardboard! Grab a pair of sharp scissors and you’re ready to start creating!
Step one: cut out lengths of yarn that you are going to use for hanging your tassels, length depending on how long you want them to hang. Here I’ve chosen 24 inches folded over length (48 inches total) and I’ve cut 10 pieces.
Step two: wrap your yarn around the object you’ve chosen. Remember to count your wraps so each tassel can be the same size and don’t wrap too tight because it will make them harder to cut off.
Step three: take one of your hanging strings and feed it through and loosely tie. Remember to feed it through the OPPOSITE end that you started wrapping (the end that DOESNT have the cut ends of yarn). Once you’ve loosely tied, cut the opposite end to release the yarn from your object of choice.
Step four: double knot the hanging string tightly to secure the tassel.
Step five: cut another small piece or yarn to use to create your ball at the top of your tassel.
Step 6: double knot it around the tassel and trim to length. Use this time to trim and even out the bottom of your tassel to desired length.
You’re done! Repeat these steps until you have you’re desired amount!
