I used to look at the freckles on my fingers and my palm, and the freckle by my bellybutton, and the new ones on my cheek, and I’d think: “I want someone to fall in love with these, to trace them with their fingers and think ‘how special, how beautiful.’” I’ve wanted that for as long as I can remember, whenever I‘ve looked at my freckles.
But one day, I looked at the freckles on my fingers and the one on my palm and the freckle by my belly button and the ones on my cheek, and I realized: I could love them enough all on my own, without ever needing anyone else to love them, too.
It’s a powerful thing to learn to love yourself in the ways you always wanted someone else to love you, and for that to be more than enough.
Try to love yourself a little harder today. Your body is capable of incredible things. And that’s pretty lovable.
