𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧.
For 10 out of the 12 years of my career weekends weren't traditional, Sunday's weren't a rest day, and having holiday's off was based on luck of your cycle or seniority. Working a 4 day on / 4 day off schedule, I still picked up extra shifts on at least 2 of my days off. Since I was working so much, my eating was 𝐀𝗪𝐅𝐔𝐋 and I constantly physical drained, causing me to regularly get sick.
Once the opportunity arose, even though temporary, having a traditional work (normal weekday hours, holidays/ weekends off) schedule has made me realize that I 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦.
On my day or rest, I have learned to intentionally have a slow morning and like always, I start it off with my workout. Taking time out for myself is a necessity to recharge.
Since I've been making intentional acts of self care, committing to regular exercise, and filling my body with proper nutrition/super foods my energy levels are higher and I haven't gotten sick like I had in the past.
So whether you start this week or next, know 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭. Whether it's a quick 15 mins, 30, hour, or a weekend away, don't feel guilty of self care.
