Peep the Jetta and SHO in the first pic! I guess I have more than one shot of the Jetta after all. Ironically it was the car I was driving when I passed by the AWD turbo car of my dreams. Oh how I adored this enchantress.
Here we see the beginning and end shots of my 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Of all the cars I have owned, this one was probably the only one to have ever terrified me. Not because it was insanely fast, but because it could grip like a spider. And when it let go, you knew you fucked up.
The 6 speed in these cars is truly underrated. No doubt I had my fair share of 6k~RPM clutch drops, and the car never had an issue. It was tuned conservatively, with just a few more mods beyond what most would call "stage 2" even though the AP read otherwise. If I recall the boost was at only 19psi, but it was enough to top out the speedometer.
This car saw some track time, as well as a lot of back road cruising. I even took it to some bonfire parties way out in the sticks. It really did become a favorite of mine in ways I can't put in words. I put a lot of time and effort into making this car one of the imports I had come to fear from my muscle days.
In the end though, it became just another memory for the garage in my mind. A few years after getting rid of it, I looked up the information to buy it back. Sadly the new owner totalled it and I was left with the heartbreaking reminder of my mistakes. I can't say I am too disappointed though. In Oregon they're a dime a dozen and Subarus are too played out anymore for my taste. They were only cool when no one knew they were cool.
Definitely miss those Prodrive wheels. - 2 hours ago
