Gotta be honest. This time around I was getting anxious about Nathan being gone for 5 weeks. I know - it’s what we signed up for. But it’s still hard. . .
And I worry - am I going to do this well and not let my kids down?
Am I going to be able to show up as mom to 4 boys, continue to grow a successful thriving business from home, enjoy summer famtime, make time for service opportunities, pack for our move, AND remember to fuel up the truck (he does that for me <3)!?
Short answer - Yes. YES I AM! . .
How? Well, first - by seeking strength in my Heavenly father, 🏼letting Him take the battles off my shoulders and fight them for me as He’s done every time I’m willing to let Him. He’s done way too much for me to doubt Him now. . .
Then, by putting in place some ACTIONS you can take to stay sane...
NORMAL ROUTINE- morning gratitude & prayer, fam meals together (it’s ok if the quality of food transitions from TopChef-style roast to boxed mac&hotdogs ;P ) MICROADVENTURES- you know, the small adventures to your local park, forrest, river, mall, grocery store, backyard- I get momma it can be a LOT of work getting 4 kids out of the house with shoes on. But girl - do it!!
SEEK SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES- drop off coffee, call to say hi, or msg a funny cat-meme - just SOMETHING. Helping others turns your focus from your struggles to solution-finding for someone else’s. Win-win! (Thank goodness for my home-biz cuz I get to do this E’RY DAY!! <3 Woohoo!!!)
HAVE A TOUGH DAY ITEM - like one of his fav hoodies. OR - my personal fav- have him make his awesomebomb chocolate chip cookies that are the second-best cookies in the WORLD, freeze them, and bake a couple on those hardest nights.
SELF-FREAKING-GRACE!!! For goodness sakes woman, you do NOT - I repeat- you DO NOT have to do it all!! The ONLY one who thinks you do is YOU. So rest when you need to. Leave the dishes & laundry & toys out - get a workout in, some reading, a bath, and give yourself a break. You’re so strong and are doing AMAZING!! . . .
