One thing I have NEVER regretted was when I decided to put MY health and wellness first.
The day I decided that I needed to take care of me, I sat JJ down and shared my feelings. I shared that I felt trapped. I felt like my true self was inside but that I was wearing someone else’s body. I was sad even though I had a smile on my face. I was hurting even though I was laughing. I felt angry every time I was doing something for someone else and never had time for me.
I am lucky he listened and he supported. One of the best decisions I have ever made was putting me first.
By doing so, I became a much better wife, mother, friend, daughter, and educator. My smile is no longer fake. My laugh is no longer forced. I schedule time for myself- for my workouts, for my meal prep, and I don’t waiver on that. I schedule it like it is an appointment I can’t skip because I AM WORTH IT. I DESERVE IT.
So to my friends out there. To the busy moms and dads that put their kids first and their spouses first before their own needs, I want you to know I get it. I have been there. I want you to know you aren’t being selfish for taking care of yourself. By taking care of yourself, by making time for your workouts, for taking the time to plan and prep your meals, you are making sure that you are strong enough to help everyone else too.
My daughter knows I love her. She knows I would do anything for her. But she also knows that it is important to take time in your day to take care of yourself. I want be a positive role model for her. I want her to learn that now at her age so that she can remember when she is a mother that it is okay to take time for herself. It is necessary.
So friends, I say to you- YOU ARE WORTH IT. Let me help you.
