Meet Shane.  He is 57 years young and a beast in the gym!! He joined @crossfit_ipa in August 2018 and since starting CrossFit he has lost 30lbs!!!! One thing I have NEVER regretted was when I decided to put MY health and wellness first. 
The day I decided that I needed to take care of me, I sat JJ down and shared my feelings. I shared that I felt trapped. I felt like my true self was inside but that I was wearing someone else’s body. I was sad even though I had a smile on my face. I was hurting even though I was laughing. I felt angry every time I was doing something for someone else and never had time for me. 
I am lucky he listened and he supported. One of the best decisions I have ever made was putting me first. 
By doing so, I became a much better wife, mother, friend, daughter, and educator. My smile is no longer fake. My laugh is no longer forced. I schedule time for myself- for my workouts, for my meal prep, and I don’t waiver on that. I schedule it like it is an appointment I can’t skip because I AM WORTH IT. I DESERVE IT. 
So to my friends out there. To the busy moms and dads that put their kids first and their spouses first before their own needs, I want you to know I get it. I have been there. I want you to know you aren’t being selfish for taking care of yourself. By taking care of yourself, by making time for your workouts, for taking the time to plan and prep your meals, you are making sure that you are strong enough to help everyone else too. 
My daughter knows I love her. She knows I would do anything for her. But she also knows that it is important to take time in your day to take care of yourself. I want be a positive role model for her. I want her to learn that now at her age so that she can remember when she is a mother that it is okay to take time for herself. It is necessary. 
So friends, I say to you- YOU ARE WORTH IT. Let me help you.

In my book, Move the Ball, one fundamental principle I highlight throughout the book is that you are the quarterback and that it is up to you to take action to #movetheball forward. To do that, it starts with ownership. You have to #ownyourgame.

Along with that ownership comes playing the game with intention. It means being deliberate about how you show up to each day. It means being purposeful with how you spend each day. It means consciously engaging in behaviors that lead to habits that lead to your desired outcomes. 
Today I challenge each of you to think about your daily patterns. Are you playing the game intentionally, or are you just letting whatever happens each day happen? If you do the former, continue doing that! If you fall in the latter category, I urge you to consider changing things up and taking control over your circumstances and focus on habits, practices, and routines that will get you across your goal line. 
Don’t listen to the naysayers, you can do whatever you want. This is your life, your game.  You owe it to yourself to focus on what’s important to you. Get clarity around that and then do it.

HARD TRUTH: If you’re constantly thinking about your next meal, worrying that one meal off plan will make you gain weight, and overall feel anxiety and stress when it comes to food and how you fuel your body, then it’s time to stop dieting.

The reality is that one meal is not going to make or break your progress (and yes this is a cupcake with an oreo truffle inside of it).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t consider something like this a “cheat meal” and I actually despise that term because it insinuates that you’re doing something “bad” or that you shouldn’t be doing in regards to your diet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A lot of people live the whole restrict then binge lifestyle and have epic cheat days every weekend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s not something we coach or promote or do ourselves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Food is not good or bad. Sure some is more nutrient-dense than others, but we believe in a balanced approach because living a SUPER restricted lifestyle is
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣Not sustainable
2️⃣Miserable for most people
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we approach another holiday weekend, this is your reminder that you don’t need to do 100 burpees to earn your Cadbury egg, nor do you need to slave away on the elliptical for an hour on Monday because you ate a little more than usual.

And if you’re in a place where you are constantly thinking about your next meal, or worry that one meal off plan is going to “screw up your diet” or “throw you off track” I encourage you to get out of a caloric deficit if you’re in one, and work with someone on your approach to nutrition- that includes working on your mindset.

✨Phase 3 of my SIMPLE HEALTH METHOD is all about: HABITS.⁣

Understanding how habits work and how you can create and rewire them can be instrumental in sticking to your new routines.⁣
⁣
So here’s a little sneak peak on habits and how they work....⁣
⁣
THE HABIT LOOP⁣ 🌀
⁣
A habit is made up of primarily three things: cue, routine, and reward.⁣
⁣
CUE: the trigger that sets off the habit⁣
ROUTINE: what you automatically do in response to that cue⁣
REWARD: benefit you gain from engaging in that routine⁣
⁣
➡️ The key here to changing bad habits is to alter the routine. ⁣
⁣
The cue will always be there and a lot of times is not something you can altogether eliminate and you are looking for some kind of reward. So focus on the routine.⁣
⁣
❓What can you do in place of your current routine when that cue occurs to give you the same reward?⁣
⁣
Let’s walk through an example….⁣
⁣
Habit: You crave cookies in the evening 🍪⁣
Cue: Finishing dinner⁣
Routine: Eating something sweet⁣
Reward: Relax and unwind from the day⁣
⁣
INSERT NEW ROUTINE 👉🏻 surf on instagram, watch a tv show, read a good book⁣
⁣
Do something that will allow you to still feel relaxed and unwind from the day without reaching for that cookie.⁣
⁣

What do you do when you’re not feeling well?

Some people lay in bed and sleep all day, some people run errands.

Today I slept in and said.. let’s go to the gym!
