Sappy post alert.
Actually, there’s a fun story behind this book. I used to work with this incredibly compassionate, kind, gifted woman @queenfina . She taught me everything I know when it comes to early intervention, Greenspan’s Floortime model, and my early life in special ed. She has now been my friend for 15 years! ♀️
She used to read with her daughter for many years. Now her daughter is a teenager and her bedtime story days are over. She decided it was time to clean out those pictures books and she’d gifted those books to us. What a precious present!
There’s a “There was an old lady who swallowed a _______” for every season. My daughter LOVES those books. We read them every day. The book in this picture has already been read about ten times.
When I read to my daughter, I know I am growing in her the building blocks for literacy, writing, and language. She’s gaining a love for learning, and a love for reading. Most of all, it’s a special routine we have every night that is just her and I. Those moments matter.
And as I think of my friend and her daughter, I’m reminded that these years go by so fast. Sometimes I wanna cry because the days are so long and so demanding... but reading these books remind me that one day, I’ll wish she would snuggle with me and read this book. - 3 days ago
