STORY/ARTICLE VIA NYTIMES-“Multiple explosions at churches and hotels around #SriLanka on Sunday killed at least 48 people and injured many more, according to local news reports.
The sites included three churches convened for Easter Mass and three high-end hotels in #Colombo , the capital.
At least 23 people were killed in Colombo, the Sri Lankan news media said, while 25 were killed at a church in the eastern city of Batticaloa.
Harsha de Silva, a member of Parliament, said on Twitter that foreigners were among the casualties.
The two other churches that were targeted were St. Anthony’s Shrine, a Catholic church in Colombo, and St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, a city about 20 miles north of the capital. Pictures posted on social media showed blood and rubble on the grounds of #StSebastian ’s Church as members of the congregation tended to injured people strewn across pews.
There were also explosions at three five-star hotels in Colombo, the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the #Kingsbury .
Though it was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attacks, the police said they appeared to be coordinated.
