Happy birthday @rhysmildren 🧡🧡🧡
I often think about how one day we will be old people together and it won’t matter what we look like; we would have lost our young bodies, our smooth skin, the physical appearance we both once had that caught each other’s eye the first time we saw each other. One day, none of that will matter.
All that will matter is the memories we’ve created together, as we are now with our dogs and what is yet to come in the future. What will matter is the adventures we went on; exploring the world, waking up while it’s still dark outside to explore empty cities and hidden places while the rest of the world is still asleep. I write this after we’ve spent this morning doing exactly that in Prague. What will matter is how hard we’ve laughed together and to recognise how rare it is. I cannot explain how much we laugh together, every single day. You’re the weirdest person I’ve ever met but I still out-weird you and our sense of humour is the core of who we are, separately and together. I write this moments after we’ve had a pretend rave in the loungeroom to no music. What will matter is how hard we’ve loved. Love isn’t having butterflies all the time, materialistic gifts or things always being perfect. Love is so much more than that; it’s you knowing that I’ll always get a raspberry flavoured drink at a pub, or me knowing you’ll always snooze your alarm twice before getting up, or that with one single look we know what the other one is thinking and will burst into laughter. I write this after you’ve walked into the room I’m in and heard the fan squeaking, so you fixed it and walked back out without saying a word.
You’re my favourite person. I hope you know that, even on the days that test us. I love you. - 5 days ago
