This month we had a hard time keeping up with updating our budget... which lead to massively overspending on nonessentials.
We are on baby step 2 in the Dave Ramsey debt free program and we are in this stage where we actually have some money leftover. Our snowball is roughly $900 and for the first time ever, we feel comfortable spending money. That sounds good, but it is in fact very problematic.
Lifestyle creep is a real thing. Now that we have “discretionary money” it’s waaaaay more tempting to spend it on fun things.
We feel it is just as important to post and acknowledge failures as much as successes. For us, we need to update our budget on a near daily basis and continue to monitor our spending. With stricter spending we can increase our snowball to roughly $1200 monthly.
