INJURY UPDATE: Eagles CB Sidney Jones says he is looking to get fully healthy this offseason and hopes to overcome his early injury history.
Jones, 22, suffered a torn Achilles during his pro day in March of 2017 and missed all but one game of his rookie season.
Jones was limited to playing in just nine games in 2018 due to a lingering hamstring injury and he’s now focused on restoring his health ahead of the 2019 season. “It’s my No. 1 focus this offseason — getting right,” Jones told Philly.com. “Show everybody what I can do. Facing adversity . . . it’s about moving forward. That’s the task at hand.” Jones does not want to be known as just, “that guy whose career was derailed by injuries.” “It’s not going to define me. It’s not going to be who I am. It’s not going to stop me,” Jones said. “So moving forward, taking everything that happened and just keeping it on the back burner, knowing what I’ve been through, knowing how rough it was and … having that fire and that passion to come back and be the best version of me.” Jones is set to enter the third year of his 4-year/$6.140M rookie contract and stands to make base salaries of $1.023M and $1.302M over the final two years of the agreement.
In nine games this season, Jones recorded 25 total tackles, and two pass defenses.
