I just saw a weight loss inspo meme that said, “exercise is like telling the body, you’re going to hate me for this, but you’ll thank me later.” NOPE. That’s not true or inspirational. The body doesn’t hate back. The body is a friend, teacher, tool, and vehicle. It’s doesn’t grow from abusive treatment, just like your inner self doesn’t come out of a a state of hate and say thank you to the perpetrator.
Can we please start celebrating our bodies, instead of acting like they need to be whipped into shape?
When I do a hard workout... I jokingly yell to my computer that @baileybrwn is such a b-word! (she’s not tho )! But I keep going, not because my body deserves punishment and a strong authority figure, rather, I WANT TO FEEL STRONG AND CAPABLE IN MY BODY! Growing and nurturing physical strength and health are bleeping novelties. I’m thankful every single day I feel up to inviting my body for a workout.
