All sunscreens are NOT created equally. This is something I’ve learned since becoming a mother and realizing I needed to take a closer look. There are a lot of toxins in most sunscreens that most people aren’t even aware of! — And here’s the part that really gets me: About half of the beach and sport sunscreens sold in the U.S. that EWG (Environmental Working Group) analyzed would not be allowed on the market in Europe due to inadequate protection against UVA rays and toxins. A recent study found that the toxic chemicals found in sunscreen hits the bloodstream within a day of use. BAD NEWS!! 🏼♀️
Luckily I’ve done some digging around and found a few brands that are safe to use for everyone in your family, even your little ones! These brands are fantastic! @thinkbabythinksport @beautycounter @badgerbalm •
If you’re like me and like to make your own at home here is a recipe that I’ve used and works wonders!!
️ Carrot seed oil sunscreen ️
You’ll need: 1 cup coconut oil, 2 tbsp zinc oxide, 2 tbsp shea butter, 1 tsp carrot seed oil, 1 tsp vitamin E oil, 1 tsp beeswax, 25 drops of essential oil (I love to use lavender or bergamot), and a glass jar.
To make — Combine all ingredients except essential oils and zinc oxide in jar. Use a double-boiler to warm ingredients by filling a small pot with 2 inches of water on stove over low to medium/low heat. Place jar in pot + stir until everything is mixed. Add in zinc oxide, stir until mixed well, remove from heat and add in essential oils. Store in a cool place. ️ @completelycaseyjo - 6 hours ago
