The Metropolitan Fire Service in Victor Harbor was awarded the best regional station in the state last night. They received the “2018 MFS Regional Operations Annual Audit and Proficiency Assessment Shield”. Victor Harbor is one of 16 regional stations across SA, last night, regional stations were described as showing leadership and enthusiasm to every job they perform.
The Victor Harbor MFS are rightly incredibly proud to receive this award. The firefighters that man the station in Victor Harbor do so on a part time / as need basis and they have employment outside of the MFS. Their commitment, and that of their families, was recognised last night. To be called away from family time or your job requires a dedication to be admired, even last night, half way through their meal, they were called out to a job! To the businesses in the town that employee our regional firefighters, I commend your understanding of the important ‘second job’ they hold.
Thank you to Chief Officer, Michael Morgan, Mark Ewan’s from the VH MFS and the many other people in the room who hosted the evening at the McCracken Country Club. I was pleased to be there representing Corey Wingard MP, Minister for Emergency Services.
