In celebration of #WorldRainforestDay , we want to invite you to love and acknowledge one of the most magnificent and important ecosystems on our planet, one that is close to our hearts.
Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon surged last month to the highest level since the current monitoring method began! This is cause for concern for EVERYONE. With over 80,000 acres of rainforest destroyed every day, we need to take action now to save these precious ecosystems.
Did you also know that the Amazon is one of our planet's greatest gifts? Here's how:
Biodiversity. Rainforests host around 50% of the existing plant and animal species. Over 1 million of those species found are critically endangered and can only live in rainforests.
🌎Stabilizes our climate. Rainforests are named "the lungs of the world", they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. They provide around 20% of the world's oxygen.
Acts as a pharmacy. Approximately 25% of all medicines originate from rainforests despite only 1% of them having been studied for their healing powers.
