What does PD stand for?
As a teacher I have always believed this to be Professional Development. In order to improve my chances of getting a job, I have to constantly seek out courses about assessment, literacy and numeracy centers, assistive technology...the list doesnt end.
Not until a few months ago did I learn that PD, to the rest of the world, means PERSONAL Devlopment.
I've lived way too may years of my life unaware of the importance of this type of PD.
Personal Development comes in all shapes and forms. Books, Podcasts, Conferences, Meditation, Journalling, Masterminding.... too many to list!
But whatever the form, the purpose or goal is always growth; to improve on who we are as human beings.
I am so grateful for my friends, and mentors who have introduced me to the works of Brene Brown, Rachel Hollis, Robin Sharma, Cleo Wade and so many others... because without them, I'd still be under the impression that the only PD that mattered in my life was about Formative Assessment.
And while life long learning in a career is essential, shouldn't life long learning on the subject of your LIFE be critical?? Shouldn't growing and becoming the best versions of ourselves...so that we can become the best teachers or nurses or parents...be the highest priority?? #teacherlife #firewife #leavealegacy #fillyourcup #thestruggleisreal #momlife #momofboys #boymom #firewifelife #bravebabes #northernontario #thesisterhood #robinsharma #brenebrown #rachelhollis #cleowade - 21 hours ago
