These five pieces of literature are my favorite pieces/quotes of all time. The first two are from one of my very favorite novels, Revival, by Stephen King. The reason I love these two pieces so much is that, in all the classic literature, plays, poetry, short stories and tales of all kinds that I have read, I have never felt a stronger character connection than the connection Jamie and Rev. Charles shared in this story. It is beautiful, completely heart-wrenching, and makes cry every time I go back to this book.
The other three are my favorite quotes from my all time favorite novel, The Catcher in the Rye. Unlike Revival, there are rarely even any major characters in this novel, but the words written by the author are some of the most beautiful, deep, profound...everything I hope to be as a writer. This book has inspired me, and in any stage of life, I find is always relatable...but only to certain people. Not everyone understands or can find the beauty in this book, as I’ve had several teachers and professors voice over the years. But to me, I could read it over and over and it never loses its’ ability to “wow” me. #thecatcherintherye #jdsalinger #revival #stephenking #bookstagram - 11 minutes ago
