Då var det åter tisdagskväll å ett nytt härligt träningspass i Hjärnarp med ett härligt gäng, där några hade det lite tungt ikväll efter gårdagens julbord 🤗. Men som vanligt kämpade alla på efter sin bästa förmåga å roligt att se hur alla tar sig an utmaningar med en positiv inställning  då det var lite fokus på balansträning.

Like bodyweight and DB/KB squats there are many variations for BB squats

Video 1: Barbell Back Squat
Same set up as your body weight squat or goblet squat but this time we are placing the load across our shoulders. When unracking the bar ensure to get directly underneath in either a quarter squat stance or split stance while staying braced throughout the whole body, centre yourself under the bar and then proceed to unrack the bar.
By pulling your elbows up as shown in the video this creates a shelf on your back for the bar to rest comfortably on. Once you feel stable proceed to squat focusing on the teaching points covered in yesterday’s part 1. |
Video 2: Front Squat
Shoulder mobility/tight lats can be the main problems for people when performing front squats as they are unable to get the front rack position to hold the barbell. Similar to the KB front squats this movement puts increased demand on core, shoulder and trunk stability

Loaded squat jump focusing on building lower body power. Very advanced movement and would often favour a trap bar over the barbell due to the reduced risk of injury with the trap bar and no direct loading of the spine

Any more lessons for me because I could do with them?😂
5 Lessons learned from my first marathon.
1. Do a proper 2-3km warm up and some dynamic stretches before starting.
2. Make sure you get enough water throughout the whole race.
3. Make sure you replenish the salt that you lose through liquids or gels during the race.
4. Do not push yourself past your capabilities because you “feel good” at any point.
5. Finally get a good spot up at the front on the start line to save you some valuable time.

After my surgery I finally have some down time to write more programs to help anyone who needs it. I recently wrote a basic program for beginners to do/improve on pull-ups. I also will be giving my running program, ruck programs, and what I do in the gym workout wise. These are all good to improve overall health/endurance and great for military schools like Airborne/ Air Assault and Ranger school.

One last thing I also been asked a few times what are my credentials to giving this advice. Well I DII runner with a personal best of 4:20 for the mile, 9:38 two mile, 25:29 for the 5 miler and 1:15 half marathon. 
My personal bests in the three major lifts are 420 squat, 530 deadlift, and 320 bench.
I have trained up and competed in the Best Ranger Competition in 2018.

Hitting Hump Day with alot of energy fam.  One of my morning habits is writing in my Journal and thinking about the things I am grateful for before I get out of bed. 1️⃣TRX rows- you can do so many cool fancy fun things with trx literally you can get a full body workout done just using these guys. For this workout I just did 3 sets of 15 rows. #backgains
2️⃣B stance hip thrusts. If you’ve mastered the normal barbell hip thrust or you’re just looking for a way to create some spice in your life try B stancing it. B stance is just a way of saying a staggered stance, so you can see my foot placement is a bit staggered! I did 3 sets of 10 each side. I’m telling you this burns reeeeeeeeal nice.

Lateral hip opener: Anyone with low back pain will agree, we tend to focus on stretching muscles at the front and back of our body to provide relief but often forget to stretch the sides. If our obliques, ribs and QL are all tacked-down and tight, these too will contribute to our overall global stiffness. This stretch comes from Dr. Kelly Starrett's Becoming a supple Leopard. In our opinion it's every athlete's ultimate guide to stretching and injury prevention. 😀 
The stretch will help improve global rotation, low back pain and stiffness. ⚫ From the crossed-legged position, pull your right foot over your left knee. ⚫ With your right leg holding down your left hip, bring you left arm over your head and fall to your right side. ⚫ Keep your torso and arm on the same vertical plane as you lean over your right hip.

Progress is progress. Be proud that you haven't quit and keep striving for that bigger results no matter what area of life. Wowzers I've had some interesting delays interfere with physical progress but just slowing down and working past each one has given me a new appreciation in myself.  Mentally I'm strengthing day by day, mental stamina far outweighs the physical. If mentally you are weak it's only a matter of time before your body starts showing the weakness's as well.

Är DU redo för en förvandling?

En påminnelse om att vi alla är nybörjare någongång och att det därför är heeelt värdelöst att jämföra sig med alla andra hela tiden.

Vi har ingen aning om hur länge de har jobbat, hur vägen till målet har sett ut. Ingenting.

Heat therapy: Indications and Cautions/Contraindications for use

Heat therapy, it’s so commonly used in the self management of pain. But are you using it for the right thing? And do you know when NOT to use it?

The application of heat has many effects including:
- Improved elasticity of soft tissue
- Increased blood flow
- Increase local metabolic and enzymatic activity leading to increased white blood cells and decreased metabolic waste.
- Subjective relaxation
- Mild pain reduction

Negative effects of heat therapy include:
- Increases in local oedema (swelling)
- Increased local inflammation
- Increase localised bleeding

When not to use heat therapy:
- Acute injuries
- In those with haemorrhage or bleeding disorders
- In those with poor thermal regulation
- In those with peripheral vascular disease - In those with lack of awareness of pain or sensory loss (eg. Diabetic neuropathy)

There are varying opinions and research on the effectiveness of heat therapy, the general rule is that you should never use one therapy on its own; use with exercise, manual therapy and/or in conjunction with cold therapy to achieve greatest benefits.

Personally I suggest using heat for:
- Chronic pain (pain > 12 weeks)
- Muscular spasms or contractions
- In conjunction with heat to treat muscular strains or ligamentous injuries - To promote relaxation

STOP!!!!!! 🛑Stop what you are doing…no, not literally but the things you do day to day. Why? Well, I can confidently say most of the people I see haven’t had a major incident or trauma to cause their pain – No car accident, no fall, no huge impact🚑.

Sometimes we do not realize that the things we do each day accumulate and add up to cause what we are feeling – whether that’s a good or a bad feeling. It takes a change in routine for us to take that ‘step back’ and go “yeah that’s not good for me” or “wow I feel so much better from that”. You’d be surprised how many times I hear “I felt so much better when I was on holiday” or “I didn’t feel it last week as I took the week off work”🌍🏖. ..

My transformation Tuesday-  First picture is January 2017 and the second is December 2018. Just goes to show the difference exercising regularly and following a healthy diet can do. I Really regret not taking more before pictures but this one will have to do! 🤸🏽‍♀️
