Sculpted PVC pipe is now baked! Ready to focus on sculpting Mimzy! 
Why a PVC pipe? Mimzy’s (this Neapolitan Mastiff) favorite toy is a PVC pipe. Since I could not use the original PVC pipe to incorporate with the sculpture, I recreated it. This is also going to be an urn (a place for the ashes). According to Mimzy’s mom, Mimzy is still alive but “getting old and not doing well” 😞 and she requested me to create her a custom pet sculpture with an urn incorporated with it “when the time comes”. Some quick opposing upper body isolation exercises to do if you don't have access to a bench or squat rack!

I did them today as a superset, 15-20 reps of each x 4 🏋🏻‍♀️

Video 1: Bench Row - bench row is great for isolating your back muscles, especially if you find that you use your biceps a lot when doing seated or standing cable row. You're also going directly against gravity, and you pull until you hear the bar hit the bench, so it's a bit more difficult but you know you're getting the full rep in 💪
.
Video 2: Bench Press - bench press like this, completely flat and feet not touching the floor, is great to fully isolate your chest. It forces you not to use leg drive or you lats to push upward, so you're not able to use as heavy a weight as with your typical barbell bench press.  It's a bit more difficult to get into the higher rep range if your chest isn't used to the training volume, so it's a great workout if you want to change things up!

Today was a good day! (Pic 1): I completed day 27 of  #28daysofsweat. Can’t believe I only have more day to go! Then I will start a new workout program.

(Pic 2): work selfie...I was proud of myself for persevering today with a 90% positivity rate. I felt nauseous all morning...even threw up before work. Then I felt super sick to my stomach and had a wicked headache at work for awhile. I recognized it’s a combination of my depression manifesting itself, getting back on some meds I need and our work truck smelling of rat feces...don’t ask lol.

I tried to stay positive and kept working. This is where my positivity rating comes from - that and my day overall.

(Pic 3): I saw a beautiful sunset at the end of my workday. We were working on a property by the Puget Sound again.

Each day I choose to push through and stay positive is a huge win for me. Inside I’ve been feeling like I want to stay in bed and wallow in my pain. Instead of giving in, I redirect my thoughts, ask God for strength and keep my eyes on Him while I work.

I never really used to focus on isolating my glutes much, I would just focus on more compound movements (squats, deadlifts) but now I do compounds and invite isolation such as (weighted & banded donkey kicks, fire hydrants, dumbbell deadlifts...etc and I’m seeing much better results. I find a combination of compound and isolation movements work the best as well as always increasing weights and reps just to challenge your muscles really helps. Progression overload is important if you want to see any muscle progress and I would highly suggest it.

I have also increased my calories up to maintenance and having a moderate carb diet but lots of protein and it seems to be working for me but yeah 💪🏼 just thought I would share some progress pictures. .

So ya know I’ve been trying a bunch of concoctions to help support my adrenals and overall health.  Tonight I tried this Reishi mushroom drink.  First few sips were OK, then I actually started to enjoy it.  I added at pinch of cream as I felt like something creamy.  I’ll try it macadamia juice(ok milk) once I get some more. .
Any other suggestions?

I do not usually flaunt my jammies,  but today this was perfect,  the day sleep solves everything,  Yesterday my plans got a little derailed,  and I was exhausted after it was all said and done, a nap and early to bed,  it was exactly what I needed.  I started the day anew, I took the derailment as motivation to do something I had put off.  And I was able to see that the derailment really was not that at all but it was actually an accomplishment ! Too often we hear of people just showing up and going through the daily motions when going to a gym or joining a group class. Showing up and just completing what is written on a board/screen or doing the same boring 'bro splits' every day will not increase motivation nor will it get you closer to your goal

Training with intent means not just every session, but every set and rep has a purpose. A good Coach and good program will set expectations of the session for you. If you don't have a Coach, ask yourself... What are you aiming for today? What will inevitably get you closer to your goal? What are you aiming to achieve in each session? Is it just to finish? Or do you need to train more specifically for strength, aerobic capacity, flexibility, speed, velocity, power, etc ...? Not sure how to do this? Find a Coach that will teach and guide you.

P.s. If you are training to burn maximum calories and sweat as much as possible during a session because you have been brainwashed that is the best way to lose body fat... chances are you'll stay fat.

This is not an accurate way of measuring progress or results. Nor is it teaching you anything new. Nor is it fun. Studies show you'll get sick of being smashed 4-5 days per week or doing 'unlimited' HIIT sessions pretty soon. Then what...? Motivation stops. Consistency stops. Progress stops.

Progress is not linear.
Progress is not fucking linear.

As a competitive individual, who either does it all at a hundred per & kicks ass, OR cannot be bothered to even try, this is such a hard life lesson for me.

Progress is my goal.. not perfection. But sometimes, I get all caught up in my brain.
Sometimes, instead of looking at where I am.. I focus on where I want to be.
Sometimes, I just wanna hit PR after PR after PR.. and I get hella frustrated when that doesn't happen.

Tonight was one of those nights. I had expectations.. and I didn't meet them. Instead of brushing it off, then looking at it as two-steps forward, one-step back kinda situation. I got aaaaaaaaaaaaall up in my brain. I struggle to smother a bonafide hissy fit.. and mentally kicked myself in the ass, for being such a twat.

I coulda kept up the woe is me, negative self-talk.. but then.. I had that ah-ha, reminder moment: PROGESS IS NOT LINEAR!

Have had low iron for a while now and the GP decides I need an infusion .. hopefully I will start to feel a bit more energised!  However, i have my grandmothers veins.. 2 jabs in 1 and 2 sites and finally the 3rd site was a winner!! Needless to say I feel like a damn pincushion and site 2 is very tender and sore!! I remember the first time I tried on this shirt it didn’t even fit me. A few weeks later I saw it again and it was right but fit a little better (the photo on the left) so I bought it. When I hit a rough patch at the beginning of last year this shirt did not fit me anymore and I couldn’t even put it on. It’s such a terrible feeling to know that you are backsliding and your clothes stop fitting well and then stop fitting all together. 
Well I tried this shirt on this morning and it was lose and it fit me so differently then it used to, it’s such a good feeling! To know that I am making progress and having a reminder everyday when I get dressed it motivates me to keep working hard. Feeling better and better in my own skin is all the motivation I need to keep going! .

Five years ago today I was released to run again after all of my hip problems/surgery. I was so excited and thought I’d be running a half marathon in my future (let’s all take a second to laugh at that 😂😂). To be honest, I was petrified at therapy when she got me on the treadmill to run. She had to physically increase the spend because I was legit scared to try running again but it was what hurt my leg in the first place. But I did it. I got over my fear of the “what if” I injury myself again and went for it (I did actually have a horrible flare up a few months later 😂🤷🏼‍♀️)I ended up giving up running like I once had. It wasn’t my “passion,” I didn’t enjoy it, and I basically just did it to burn off calories/what I ate. But let me tell you, those 12 mile runs I used to take we’re something else 😅. I hit the gym tonight after having some great updates today and decided to RUN. I just did a mile since my knee was iffy today even though I felt like I could’ve kept going for even another mile. Just your friendly reminder that we can all do hard things 💪🏻❤️

2. I am engaged to the love of my life and am excited for our wedding in June!💍
3. I have 2 dogs that are heeler/ shepherd mix and a new black kitty that’s definitely started running the house!🐾
4. I have a bachelors in Politcal science, a minor in criminal justice, a minor in criminology , and I am a certified personal trainer (but want a better cert soon)
5. I’m from Colorado but have moved just about every year since my freshman year of high school with a few years in place in Flagstaff for college!
6. My life long goals are to own my own gym and be apart of FEMA/Red Cross to help people after natural disasters!
7. I am officially over a year out from having MPFL reconstructions on both knees!
