Carduus nutans, The musk thistle, or nodding plumeless thistle, is a biennial herb in the Aster—sunflower family.
It is also a non native to Colorado plant, or noxious weed as some say, and although beautiful it has infested 46,000 acres of Colorado’s foothills.
I learnt this all this evening after coming across him and noting that the goats hadn’t even thought about eating him. Why did we get goats again?
They spread from seed so I now know I need to go back and chop this guy, then burn the seeds/flower. But a small (giant) part of me would really love him in a bouquet. - 3 hours ago
