Have you ever thought about how many times a day you bend down to pick something up? How many times a day do you HINGE? How many times a day do you REACH? Better yet… have you ever thought about HOW you should bend down and pick something up?!!! Today on MOVE MONDAY we’re going to talk about just that and demonstrate by picking up Trixie! Normally HINGING from your hips, SQUATTING using your core and REACHING your arms are often considered “exercise” moves. Do you ever take a minute to think about how much we “exercise” in our everyday life doing everyday tasks? For most of us the answer would be “Probably not!” as many people don’t like to exercise let alone think about it in their everyday living!
It’s safe to say that most of us would like to live life moving well without pain. All it takes is doing things correctly, moving from the right places and paying attention to it all as you go about living your everyday life. So when you have to pick something up off the ground, rather than using your back to do the bending, how about HINGING using your hips instead? And when you reach for something, rather than having your arm come out of the socket to grab it, why not come closer to what you need and ensure that your arms stay connected in the sockets, using your armpits? Just be a little more aware everyday of how you move your body and before you know it, you’ll realize that it moves freer, easier and with little or no pain!
