Some incredibly wise words from the American poet, activist and author Wendell Berry. 🌎
No matter our beliefs, political views, ethnicity or our background, the earth is the thing that ties each and every one of us together. It is our common ground. We share this beautiful planet, and so we should share the responsibility of maintaining it, as well as enjoying what it has to offer. Our home, let us take a moment to think about what we can each do, just a small change to our everyday lives, to make things a little better.
Choose organic - By choosing locally sourced, you may pay a little more, but you will be supporting ethical, local businesses and it will also rid your body of the toxins found in non-organic options.
Reduce your carbon footprint - Consider how far a product has travelled to get to you and where possible, seek local alternatives.
Give back - If you have spare time or specific skills, offer up your help. There are also many ways to fundraise for a charity or get involved in a local beach clean up.
Reduce waste - Try to make choices based on avoiding unnecessary packaging and where waste is incurred, ensure that you are recycling. Give any unwanted items to charities, and if you have the skills, get creative and see what you can make with things you may have otherwise thrown away.
This post is not about becoming a perfect human being overnight, or judging others on what they do or not, but instead, about being more conscious and taking #SmallSteps where you can to make the earth a better place for everyone.
