So we’ve discussed in the past about picking up bugs and flipping them over to match the color size and profile of the natural when choosing which pattern to fish, but let’s take it a step further and understand the life cycle of that bug. You don’t need to be an entomologist, and be able to name every species of mayfly that exist, but we encourage you, next time you’re out, pay attention to what life stage that bug is in! This will enhance your success ratio immensely, perhaps , like the cutty in this photo is eating, trying fishing a spent spinner, perhaps (wink wink nudge nudge) that’s what the biggest fish are after!!!
