So I’m tired and my knee is stiff and neck is in recovery. So instead of doing usual Snatch morning, I’m doing very light complexes. Dead lift, to high hang power snatch, drop snatch, to overhead squat. Still tough but keeping weight very light. #olympicweightlifting #strengthtraining #powertraining #trainingsensible #olympicliftingtechnique #olympiccomplex #trainsmarter

Monday snatches. 
Shoulders are wrecked so 30kg was as far as I went today, down 10-15kg.
Technique wasn't great at all but it's better than nothing.

Saturdays session. No real structure just wanted to see how things felt going heavier and putting together the cleaned and jerk. Mostly until this point I've been doing jerks from the rack or not wandering above 100kg with the C + J. Second jerk was definitely a miss, locked it out and didnt make full extension. Finished with some cleans at 160.

Drop ya ego 👋🏻 in my 3 month oly lifting journey I’ve worked up to being able to snatch 45kg, currently struggling to get 35kg over my head in an orderly fashion. Even though I’m capable of more weight stuff is off tekkers-wise and it needs to be addressed. Everyone who really understands how to build strength knows we ain’t working at 100% every session and if you are you need a new trainer!! I will regularly strip back to an empty bar and there is no shame in that, and anyone who says different is a DICK! This can be applied to all strength/weight training.... .

[Education] Power Cleans are ofted used to teach athletes force and power generation. However, they are technically demanding and require proficient technique before they become athletically beneficial.

Without a sound understanding of proper technique, injuries may occur and we would discourage its implementation in most Strength & Conditioning programmes.

Выходной день штангиста, какой он...?

Мне посчастливилось быть знакомым с сотнями штангистов и по большей части это профессионалы. Конечно выходные дни есть и у спортсменов ( отдых - неотъемлемая часть тренировок! ), а вот проводят их они совсем по-разному 😉 Могу с уверенностью сказать, что большинство проводит их пассивно в позе эмбриона лёжа в теплой кровати, отсыпаясь после тяжёлой трудовой недели! Может быть лишь выйдя на пару часиков в свет посмотреть премьеру в кино, либо отведать любимого вредного блюда в одном из кафе быстрого питания 🙈

Однако есть и любители активного отдыха, желающие делать хоть что-нибудь лишь бы не сидеть в четырех стенах 😁  Эти ходят на прогулки, посещают различные мероприятия ( благо сейчас досуга хоть отбавляй ), музей, выставки и даже театры 🤫

Я люблю долгие долгие пешие прогулки, в новых местах, где ещё не бывал....открывать для себя интересные места, что может быть лучше)) Итог воскресенья: пройдено 10км ( в будни хожу 3-6км ), пару музеев, парк и много солнца 🌞
До чемпионата осталась неделя 😁 Как то за неделю надо стать сильнее 😅 Предложения есть? 🤣

More work, more slogging, more intensity equals ‘better fitness’, right?

The harder you work, the more intense your workouts, the more load you can shift, the more sessions you can fit into seven days, the fitter you will be ... but fit for what?

We have all been sold the high intensity model at some point in our lives and there is definitely a time and a place for intensity in everybody’s prescription of fitness but does it allow you to function better?

It all comes down to being a little more self aware and honestly answering the below questions.

What is YOUR definition of fitness?

What is YOUR purpose?

What is YOUR function?

What are the underlying reasons behind why YOU do fitness?

The diagram above displays a fitness continuum with vitality/wellness at one end of the curve and elite fitness/sickness at the opposing end.

Now if your goal is to be an athlete, health, as we can see, is the price to be paid for achieving elite athleticism.

The more sports specific your training is the closer you will be to the ‘sickness’ side of the curve.

Being an athlete is an admiral pursuit but is one which is paid in points and prizes, not health and wellness.

If your goal is to live a longer, healthier, more prosperous life then your prescription of fitness should align with these goals.

Whatever your reason for taking part in physical pursuits, find a balanced program that will help you achieve them.

Train with intent and purpose, always 👌🏼

Stop trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to training glutes!

It breaks me, when I  see people walking sideways on a stair-master and treadmill, people using the Assisted dip machine for glutes, people using bands attached to machines! It’s all bullshit if you ask me! 
#
Seriously stick to the basics and your glutes will grow. 
#
You have to get comfortable with getting under the bar and taking yourself outside of your comfort zone and learning how to get that maximum mind to muscle contraction. 
#
Anyway, here’s some advice for those who really want their glutes to grow and are uninterested in using bands and trying to reinvent the wheel.
#
If you want to grow your glutes spend time where there is MOST TENSION on them.
#
Make the most out of the resistance profile of the squat, adjust tempos, in simple terms. 
#
So for a squat this is at the bottom! 
#
Make sure you are staying in your active range of hip flexion to maintain the tension on your glutes. 
#
Don’t let your pelvis tuck under as this takes tension from glutes and transfers it to your spine and erectors. 
#
I know I have a slight pelvic tilt at the bottom but I am coming back from a bad back injury and it remains mobility work in progress! 
#
When you get to the bottom don’t just hang there really squeeze your glutes. I’m looking at a 2/3 second pause at the bottom. 
#
At the top don’t hyper extend either, just look to squeeze your glutes. 
#
I really hope this information helps, good luck and let me know how you find “Pause Squats”

If done correctly you’ll have a nice few days of DOMS!
