Details of the PONCHIKI! (DONUT!). The best had @puriguliani are superb! For just 1.7GEL (less than 1SGD in the fancy cafe setting), and they serve it hot! It is not like those chain donut place that the donut is more like a bread, this has a dough fritter kind of crispy and chuncky surface, very thin and puffy dough and lots of 'cream' and I guess it is made from milk+sugar+flour, like a custard without egg, gooey but not too sweet, NICE! When I told the cafe manager how good this is, seems she knows they are the best in town! A MUST TRY for both the venue and the food. Qada is also Georgian and taste like a layered pastry with suggar glaze in between the layers. All simple (and sinful) ingredient to make these gorgeous babies!
It seems to me this is a typical Georgian style of donut that has first been introduced during a free city tour by Anya during @tbilisifreewalkingtours , she guided us to a 15th centry celler bakery (pic.9) and I had my first there, and also tried the one at @sakhachapuren1 (pic.7 and 8), which is not as fluffy as the best to me but of standard and may be preferred for those like doughy donuts!
