earth. you have been home for all of us since we can remember. our ancestors can trace our roots back to where the first feet pushed into the soils of our home and chased the winds of progress to innovate and make the lives of humans better. progress, as it is destined to, morphed to greed, which morphed to power. power that we desired to have over the earth, of its resources to allow of our lives to be somewhat more “convenient.” power that the earth is taking back, through tornados, hurricanes and forest fires. power that we did not deserve in the first place. we didn’t need it. we need alternatives.
it can be cliche to say that “everyday is earth day” but the reality is... that it is. everyday we wake up on this planet and get to make the choice to be conscious of our actions, our desires, our needs, or to say that because we are human, we can take as we please. every action predates another action, just as every choice will lead to another. it is no longer enough to be sedentary on matters of our climate. it is not longer enough to acknowledge that is a sad or desperate situation. it is no longer enough to forget that our actions have consequences.
HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. VOTE. vote for representatives BELIEVE in climate change. big corporations that are the main perpetuators of climate change need to be held accountable. protecting our home shouldn’t be a partisian issue. in the end, we all will suffer.
2. TAKE ACTION. take action in your household. turn off your climate control systems, take public transportation, invest in reusable cups and containers. minimize how much meat you eat. stop buying fast fashion. take shorter showers. use reusable bags.
3. SPEAK UP. speak up and use your platform if you have one. a single spark can light a fire to change the world for the better. don’t leave us in the dark.
4. BE A BETTER GUEST. our lives are short and fleeting in the story of this planet that is our home. you wouldn’t go to your friends house and leave trash, dump chemicals in his water source, or slaughter all his pets. none of us own this planet, we’re just passing through. take care of it while we still can 🌎 - 25 minutes ago
