Our Values underpin our 'Why' - Why we do what we do.
For me, my values make up the ‘puzzle board’ to which I put together the 'pieces' of my identity as me and as a mum.
We experience great shifts during our transition to motherhood, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s very normal to have a change in values once becoming a parent.
One thing that is constant in life, is change. For me the key has been Awareness and flexibility
I’ve found that being aware of, and honouring my values helps keep me grounded, adds resilience and helps me keep true to myself no matter what life throws my way.
Being flexible is how we navigate our daily lives to honour our values - shifting those puzzle pieces to keep the picture in tact!
An example - one of my values is 'energy', when I have a bad night's sleep, maybe Bonnie was unsettled, I would try and prioritise a nap the following day or at least an earlier night. This might mean shifting a few plans to make it happen but ultimately it will help give me the energy needed to show up in the vibe I like!
I now do my best to live by my values of Love, laughter, Energy and courage:
Love – in abundance for myself and for those I hold close to my heart. Selflove to me means creating space, having awareness for me and my needs and making conscious choices to honour these needs
Laughter – raise my vibration and take a leaf out of my Bonnie's book - ‘’Children are not as serious as grown ups, and they love to laugh’’ Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
Energy – energy is everything and everything is energy– ‘’Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics’’. Albert Einstein.
Courage –To show up, put myself 'in the arena' and to choose standing alone in my own truth over fitting in.
When our actions and behaviour match our values, life is usually good and we feel satisfied and content. When those are not aligning with our personal values that is when things feel wrong and can be a source of real unhappiness.
I would love to hear what one of your values is/are? ️ - 5 hours ago
