Do you LIKE reading your bible? No, like, honestly, I really want to know! And no shame in your answer. This morning I wasn’t excited about it either!
My bible fell open to these underlined words today:
“Your words were found, and I ate them,
and Your words became to me a joy
and the delight of my heart,
for I am called by your name,
O LORD, God of Hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16
...and when I read it I was almost bummed out. Like, “Lord, I don’t open my bible with joy in my heart sometimes! I WANT Your words to be the delight of my heart... but some days I just don’t FEEL that.”
But look again... and Your words BECAME to me a joy and delight... it’s AFTER we come to Him - in brokenness and weakness and joy-less-ness - that those words transform our hearts and become our delight. It doesn’t always happen instantly. But the more time we spend reading, studying, asking God questions, the more it will make our hearts come alive! He changes us.
And we find ourselves too! “For I am called by Your name...”... next time you don’t feel like spending time with the Word of God, push through. Read anyways. Because it becomes a joy and we are reminded of who we really are.
I’m reading a psalm + a proverbs a day, and I got a little behind over the weekend (because #nobodysperfect ) but catching up today! Anybody else wanna do it with me? Just start with Proverbs 20! (If you didn’t know, there are only 31 proverbs, so it’s literally the best for doing 1/day all month long ☺️)
Oh, and #momhack keep your toddler’s coloring books nearby so they can “journal” with you 🤣🤗😉 - 6 hours ago
