In a 16 inning marathon last night, the Mets lose a tough one to the Giants 3-2.
It was a pitchers duel all night long between Noah Syndergaard and Madison Bumgarner, as Syndergaard pitched 7 innings of 1 ball. Twice he had man on third and 0 outs and both times got out of it unscathed. The bullpen then pitched very well for 8 innings, thanks to Seth Lugo, Luis Avilan, Edwin Diaz, Jeurys Familia and Rob Gsellman, and Justin Wilson.
The Mets offense was held in check, and couldn’t score after the first when Pete Alonso hit into a double play, scoring Jeff McNeil. It was only until the 16th inning when Pete Alonso would hit home run number 32 to give the Mets the lead.
Unfortunately, the Mets bullpen was thin, also because Jacob Rhame is serving a suspension, and when Chris Mazza was called upon to close the game, he blew it. -
Either way, so many things have looked significantly better for the Mets, and one loss shouldn’t stop their momentum to strive for the wild card spot.
