Odd, but speaking of mourning jewelry this morning put me in mind of some of my own.
After Nanny’s funeral I knew I would need air and to walk, so lucky the service was in the New Forest right on the coast.
My dearest friend Keith made the journey down to keep me company, a train ride of around six hours (and if that isn’t truest purest kindness and love, I don’t know what is) and we strolled along the sea wall, a place that me and Nanny frequented.
When we were there I’d often look for pretty shells and run with the dog, so me and Keith did just that, looking for the prettiest, shiniest, most beautiful. I lovingly filled my pockets with memories and calcium carbonate.. these shells I’ve saved until today when I washed them, paired them and made them into little earrings I’ll keep forever- just as beautiful as pearls, no? 🖤 #seashells #shells #newforest #newforestseawall #newforestbeach #shellearrings #seashellearrings #memorialjewelry #mourningjewelry #memories - 6 hours ago
