To begin our Super Bowl showdown comparison discussion, let’s first take a look at the starting QB’s.
Jared Goff, in his 3rd Season in the NFL, playing for the Los Angeles Rams, was the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Although he hadn’t officially started for the Rams until halfway through his rookie year, serving as backup QB Case Keenum, for the beginning half of the season.
Once Goff took the starting role in LA the team’s record has improved from 4-12, in the 2016 season mostly under Keenum, to a monster 13-3 record in 2018, making his way to his first Super Bowl appearance.
Jared Goff at 24, is a 2x Pro Bowl Pick, All-Pac-12 Selection in College, has a 64% completion rate, with a passer rating of 94.7, and nearly 10,000 passing yards in his 3 year NFL Career.
In my opinion Goff is a conventional slot QB, who prefers either passing the ball down field, or handing off to a capable RB.
He’s a young gun with something to prove, and I believe him and Brady will be a hell of a matchup.
