It’s been raining... really raining for almost 30 hours. I’ve been staring out the windows and it truly appears the foliage has broadened. My ‘Filipendula rubra’ looks like a Jack in the Beanstalk.
I went for a stroll ~ with an umbrella in one hand and the camera in the other. This backyard shade garden was the first established garden to our blank-slate... 29 years ago. *The photos are taken from either end of the brick path.
The ground covers include lamium, perennial geranium, lily of the valley, Japanese painted fern, violets, variegated loriope, Solomon’s seal, astilbe, creeping comphrey, sundrops, native ferns and campanula. Some larger-leaf perennials include hosta, brunnera, Bloodroot and ornamental grasses. Very few weeds have their way in this action-packed garden.
