My Album Of The Week 🥇
Loyle Carner - Not Waving But Drowning. .
This week I have chosen Loyle Carner’s New album, it dropped on Friday and it’s safe to say, it’s right up there with some of my favourite albums. From the start, you get given a really personal insight into what his relationship is like with his mum and the struggles that the pair of them went through in his childhood, halfway through the album, the sounds that travel through your ears are phenomenal, the jazz like soundtrack, with a calm and mellow drum beat and a variety of bass and acoustic guitars that create an extremely relaxed atmosphere for the listener. I really, thoroughly enjoyed this and his previous album because you can properly understand the meaning behind the lyrics and you can also use these words to paint a picture in your head. Throughout the album you see a variety of features from quite the collection of great artists. At the end of the album, there’s a poem called “Dear Ben” it’s written by his mum and it goes on to talk about her relationship with her son, Loyle. During this poem, she tells a story, a story about Loyle and what he was like growing up and for me, the two stand out tracks on this album are “Dear Jean” and “Dear Ben” the reason for this is simple, they both have a very personal meaning to me. Please give the Album a listen, you WONT regret it! .
