Sitting is often super stressful for me. No, I’m not kidding. Thanks to chronic pain there are chairs, benches, stools, you name it that just don’t agree with me. It’s not always easy for me to explain to other people why (and let’s be real, it’s also emotionally exhausting to do so), so when I ask to switch seats or sit elsewhere because I’ll be in pain otherwise, I need people to just believe what I’m saying. ⠀
On a larger level, not believing someone when they tell you what’s going on for them perpetuates racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. We’re all about pride this month, and part of celebrating diversity means really listening and accepting how a person perceives the world around them. ⠀
