Nacht van de vluchteling/Night of the refugee
This night was a night like never before. When I signed up it was almost a half year ago, a lot of time to train would you think. Well things in life will go always differently and I didn't train for this walk. A lot of people where thinking I'm crazy or going to drop out (even my best friend). I had other plans with the two friends I walked as a group. From the moment we started 00:00 we walked and passed a couple of rest points. One of the things I learned is that taking a break can help for sure, but not always. When we walked and took a break for maximum 15 minutes or so our body stopped working and didn't want to go further since we rested a bit. The thing we needed to do was breaking to those hard moments for at least 4 times before we finished.
During this trip we passed a couple of rest points at 11, 23, 27 and 33 kilometres. The more rest points we had the closer we got to 40 kilometres. But after the third point, after 27 kilometres the most hardest part came in. My body was hurting, I was tired and by that time 24 hours awake without sleep. But it didn't stop me and my friends, we went through it.
It's interesting to see how much our body can endure and with the right mindset you can achieve so much. This 40 kilometres pushed me to limits, was totally out of comfortzone and needed so much dedication to finish. And that was what we did, we kept going together, motivating each other to finish. When we arrived I was barely able to walk, but I would do it again for sure. It was so energising to reach the finish. To raise money for a case you believe in and help people.
Night of the refugee, I'll see you back in 2020 with more training. ️ #training #walking #nightoftherefugee #nachtvandevluchteling #charity #goeddoel #helping #refugees #rotterdam #delft #voorburg #denhaag #40kilometres #healthybody #healthy #sport #sporting #dedication #body #love #energising #motivating #together #hardtime #achieve #hirts #youcandoit #believe #dream #workhard - 22 minutes ago
