Super happy today!! Because I got to kick again!!!!
Even though I'm at kickboxing, since October I've only punched the bags, not kicked because I've been allowing my knee to heal.
I've taken the exercises my physio gave me seriously, because it's been a few years since my knee injury and I'm tired of being restricted in what I've been able to do. .
Every time I went to physio, I was getting there, it was a little better each time, and now I'm finally improving and getting to my full range of motion!! .
Last May I started here at ILKB TO West with Lily teaching me on my first day. So it was really awesome that she was the one who was teaching the class where I got to start kicking again. 🧡
It was a huge mind over matter kind of class.
I was super nervous to kick, not wanting to injure myself again, like I've done multiple times in the past when I've been getting close to full recovery.
I took it really slow today.
And I mean suuuuper slow, like my average heart rate today was only 131bpm where normally average around 156-160..
But it was so good :)
I got out of my head and really focused on my form and doing it all right, like Lily had taught me. .
I'm really excited for this next month and being able to put the kick back into kickboxing!!!
Thank you to all the instructors who have been so patient with me, giving me modifications and letting me do awkward things in the back corner!
This work towards healing and taking care of my body is paying off
And shout out to my fantastic physiotherapist who tells me like it is, and gave me permission to get back to kicking. It felt good
