Shaking some rust off. G-III QL17 w/ Superia 400 fresh off a Wal-Mart shelf.
It’s been five years since I’ve used film, but over the last few months I’ve made more of an effort to try and rekindle some excitement. So before my trip up to Washington in January, I dusted off one of the paperweights and got to it. Some accidental double exposures, plenty of missed focuses, and a nervous self repair of a bad shutter later, here we are. Suffice it to say I am horrible at this right now. Or probably always have been. But one thing is for sure, this makes me happy. I like that I’m not good. I like the sloppy focus and the shitty framing. Seeing shots I thought were good not turning out as expected only means I have plenty more room to grow and that makes me fucking excited. Funny thing is that’s what this year’s felt like too; a re-evaluation of mistakes then adjusting to get a better picture. But this isn’t some pseudo-deep post. It really is just more about me wanting to get better at this thing. Not sure why but I’ve just felt like I’ve been in a better place lately. Kinda weird but no complaints here. I’m just tryna grow. I have about 6 rolls sitting w/ more friends in them so hopefully I can get them developed soon. - 57 minutes ago
