When pushing yourself is worth it.
I woke up this morning to the sound of a very grumpy foof wailing. I took her out to play. She found a bag of chips and hit me numerous times in the face, in hopes that her message of "open it" would come through.
The hubbs had lots of work to do, so I resolved to be the parent to take the babe to her first ever birthday party. That meant running to get a present, driving to and from the party, socializing with other parents, feeding and chaperoning the child. I was really nervous, but decided to try.
Seeing my baby's face at the sight of toys in the store made me smirk. Her reaction to the hosts' dog made my laugh. Her smile while playing with the decorations made my heart sing. No level of exhaustion could take away the amount of joy I felt during those moments.
I'm generally a huge proponent of putting yourself first. I'm the first one to opt out of a task if I know it can be done by someone else. Today showed me that sometimes, pushing yourself a little (not too much!!) can be so rewarding.
Oh, that's not a cut on her eyebrow, that's some pizza sauce. I'm not perfect at this mom thing, but I think I'm doing alright.
